How The Green Rewards Programme Works
A community-generated REC initiative that lets you earn rewards from the environmental impact of your solar system – zero effort or cost on your part.
Under the Programme, you transfer your environmental attributes to Emit Solar.
We get them certified with Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs).
We sell the RECs to companies looking to meet sustainability targets.
You receive RM10 for every MWh of Solar Electricity generated, paid out twice a year.
Your solar system generates clean energy
reducing carbon emissions and creating “green credits”.
We pool many home systems together
combining their green credits to get enough volume for certification and trading.
We certify the pooled credits as Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs)
under the internationally recognised I-REC standard.
The RECs are sold to corporate buyers looking to meet their ESG targets
directly or through accredited carbon exchanges at market prices.
Net proceeds are shared with you annually
based on the clean energy your system generated.
How Much You Can Earn
Your annual Green Rewards depend on the following:
Payout Rate
Net REC sales proceeds (after programme cost), divided across the total Solar Electricity generation (kWh) of participating systems.
Your Solar Generation
Your reward is calculated by multiplying the payout rate by the Solar Electricity your system generated.
General Estimate
Based on recent REC market conditions, rewards could work out to around RM8 for every 1,000kWh (1MWh) generated.
For example, a 7kWp solar system may generate 8,000-9,000kWh (8-9MWh) per year, which could translate to about RM64-RM72 in Green Rewards annually.
Actual payout depends entirely on the REC market and the availability of buyers.

- Solar Electricity generated by your system
- RECs issued from this generation
- REC sales proceed
- Programme costs (e.g. registration, trading, issuance and redemption fees)

- Your calculated Green Rewards

An environmental initiative where we turn the green value of your solar electricity into Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs), sell them, and pay you a share (Green Reward) once a year.
A REC is a tradeable certificate representing the environmental benefit of 1 megawatt-hour (MWh) of solar electricity. Companies buy RECs to meet their sustainability goals.
Customers who have an active Solar Contract with us.
5 years from when you start. The 5-year validity is a mandatory requirement under the I-REC system, so please join only if you’re happy to stay for the full term. At the end of the 5 years, unless you inform us beforehand, your participation may be automatically extended for a further 5 years.
You transfer the environmental attributes your solar system produces to us. This lets us register, certify, sell, trade, or retire them so that you may get a Green Reward once a year.
Accept the programme’s terms and conditions in any way we may make them available to you including by email, through a messaging platform (such as WhatsApp), by ticking an acceptance box, or by otherwise confirming your agreement to us.
While we will make every effort to sell, trade or retire the RECs associated with your solar generation, we cannot guarantee that you will receive a payout each year. It would depend entirely on the REC market and the availability of buyers.
It depends on how much we receive from selling RECs, after we deduct costs such as certification, registry and verification fees. Your share will be based on how much solar energy your system generated (measured in kWh), or another fair method we choose.
We pay you once a year, in June, for the previous year’s generation. Payment will be credited to the credit or debit card enrolled for your Emit Solar Auto Debit payments.
Payouts depend entirely on the REC market and the availability of buyers, and may change from year to year.
Maintain a stable, working internet connection so we can track and report your generation. If your system is not connected, any generation we are not able to track may not count towards your payout.
No. The Green Rewards Programme does not affect your Solar Electricity usage, bill savings, or other benefits. Your solar system will continue to reduce your electricity bill as usual. The programme simply unlocks additional value from the green impact your system creates.
No. The Green Rewards payouts are separate and cannot be used to offset your monthly Emit Solar payments.
