What is your average monthly TNB bill?
(+/-) -kWh supplied by TNB each month.
i
Daytime Electricity Usage
  • Solar Electricity is typically generated between 8am and 6pm and is used by your home as it is produced.
  • This can cover part of your daytime use, reducing the need to import electricity from the grid – so you save on all TNB charges (energy, capacity, network, SST and KWTBB).
  • Daytime usage usually ranges from 15% to 40% of total household electricity use, depending on lifestyle and consumption patterns.
  • Homes with higher overall electricity use often run more appliances during the day, allowing more daytime usage to be powered directly by solar.

(+/–) All figures are estimates and are based on current tariff rates and Solar ATAP policy.
  1. Solar generation will vary due to factors such as location, roof design and weather.
  2. Savings are highly dependent on usage patterns. An increase in imported electricity can result in lower monthly savings.
  3. TNB bill calculations use the general (non-ToU) tariff and exclude the Automatic Fuel Adjustment (AFA), which changes monthly and may be a charge or rebate.
  4. Figures shown exclude optional add-ons (e.g. Battery Energy Storage System).

(+/–) All figures are estimates and are based on current tariff rates and on the Government’s Solar ATAP announcement on 12 September 2025.
  1. Estimates may vary slightly from TNB’s calculator due to rounding differences.
  2. Monthly estimates are derived from annual calculations and averaged for simplicity – actual month-to-month results may vary.
  3. These calculations do not factor in the Automatic Fuel Adjustment (AFA), which is reviewed monthly.
  4. Post-solar TNB bill is calculated:
    1. On the basis that all Solar Electricity generated is exported and subsequently imported.
    2. Based on solar generation using 3.5 peak sunlight hours/day, according to statistics from government agencies.
  5. Actual savings will be derived from:
    1. Direct consumption of Solar Electricity during the day (reduces imported electricity).
    2. Any excess Solar Electricity exported under the NEM3.0 programme.
  6. Actual results may vary depending on location, roof design, usage patterns, weather and applicable TNB tariff tier.
